Yoga Retreat

1 - 6 September

A chance to slow down, reconnect to yourself and nature,
and enjoy daily mindful movement

About the retreat

A retreat literally means “to retreat”: to step back from daily life and return to yourself.

In everyday life, it’s easy to get caught up in everything that needs to be done. Your mind stays full, your body stays switched on, and stillness slowly disappears into the background.

This retreat is a space to slow down again. To move, breathe, rest, and reconnect. Not by escaping life, but by softening into it.

We’ll spend six days in the peaceful hills of Southwest Portugal, in beautiful Carrapateira. A simple rhythm of movement, rest, good food, and nature will support you in coming back to yourself.

Think grounding yoga, time in nature, long pauses in the day, and nourishing meals shared together.

This is a small and intimate retreat (maximum 15 people), so it stays personal, relaxed, and unhurried — nothing rushed, nothing forced.

What to expect?

Each day will include mindful movement (a mix of vinyasa yoga, yin yoga, restorative yoga, and optionally Pilates), nourishing food, and space to rest. Enough to guide you, but always with space to breathe.

Optional hikes along the Fisherman’s Trail, time in nature, and other activities will be available for those who feel like exploring.

Example day:

Morning practice
We begin the day together with pranayama (breathwork) and vinyasa yoga (optionally Pilates), followed by a longer savasana and guided meditation.

Brunch
A nourishing, slow, vegetarian brunch is served on the terrace. Time to land, connect, and enjoy without rushing into the day.

Open afternoon
The afternoon is yours to rest, swim, sauna, book a massage, play tennis on the hotel’s court, walk to the beach, read, journal, or explore the beautiful Rota Vicentina National Park. Or simply do nothing at all.

Late afternoon practice
A calming session of Yin Yoga, Restorative yoga, or Yoga Nidra. Always gentle, grounding, and deeply restful.

Shared dinner
A simple, nourishing dinner shared together at the end of the day. Either at the hotel or in a carefully selected restaurant in the area.

Where we will be staying

Carrapateira, Portugal

Last year, while hiking the Fisherman’s Trail along the Portuguese coast, I completely fell in love with this area. The raw beauty of the landscape, the ocean, and the sense of stillness sparked the idea for this retreat, and I’m so excited to bring it to life here!

Carrapateira, in the Southwest of Portugal, feels like an invitation to slow down. Surrounded by wild nature, cliffs, and ocean, it’s the perfect place to turn inward, reset, and reconnect.

Casa Fajara

We’ll be staying at Casa Fajara, a small, rustic and beautiful boutique hotel nestled in a peaceful valley within the Costa Vicentina Natural Park, just a short walk from the traditional village of Carrapateira (10 minutes) and the stunning beaches of Amado and Bordeira (about 20 minutes).

Each room at Casa Fajara has its own charm, with a private terrace or balcony overlooking the surrounding hills. Hidden in nature, the venue offers a calm and intimate setting, ideal for slowing down and stepping away from daily life.

Yoga will be practiced in Casa Fajara’s spacious on-site studio overlooking the landscape or outdoors, depending on the weather. Delicious brunch and dinner will be served in the dining room, with fresh, nourishing meals prepared each day.

During your free time, you can enjoy:

  • the saltwater pool

  • plunge pool

  • sauna

  • garden and outdoor spaces

  • tennis court

  • treatment room (massages available as an add-on)

Think comfort, peace, and simplicity, with the opportunity to explore the stunning surrounding nature whenever you feel like it. Listen to the sounds of the sea, the tinkling of cowbells, and birdsong as you slow down, reset, and recharge.

About your host

Before stepping into this path, I lived a very different rhythm. I worked in international relations, including for the UN, living and working in Australia, France, and Belgium, and traveling frequently around the world. I was driven by a strong desire to connect, contribute, and help build a more compassionate world. While I deeply valued these experiences, I also lived as a high achiever, constantly moving, doing, and pushing forward. Over time, I started to feel disconnected from the things that truly mattered, which led me to pause and reflect.

Yoga came into my life as a counterbalance to this fast-paced and demanding environment. What began as an outlet gradually grew into a compass, guiding me toward a more grounded, authentic, and intentional way of living. Through yoga, I learned to slow down, listen inward, and recognize my own boundaries, both on the mat and in everyday life.

In 2024, I left my job and life in Brussels to spend eight months traveling, creating space to reflect, reset, and reconnect with myself and the world around me. During this time, yoga became an anchor and an inspiration for a different way of living and working. In early 2025, I completed a 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training and a 50-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Lombok, Indonesia. Since then, I’ve felt a strong calling to share the transformative power of yoga with others.

In many ways, this path still connects deeply to my original motivation: contributing to a more compassionate world; this time by creating spaces where people can slow down, reconnect, and cultivate more awareness and kindness, both toward themselves and others. I truly believe that when we feel more grounded, present, and connected within ourselves, we naturally bring more compassion into the world around us.

I’m deeply interested not only in the physical practice, but also in yoga philosophy and the subtle yet profound ways breath and movement regulate the nervous system and shape our inner landscape. With a background as a dance teacher, my classes are guided by rhythm, flow, and embodied awareness. I offer intuitive and inclusive spaces where you are invited to slow down, explore, and reconnect, always at your own pace.

Organizing this retreat brings together many things I love: sharing, connecting, exploring, and creating space to slow down in beautiful nature. My intention is simple: to help you find strength, stillness, balance, and a sense of safety within yourself, again and again.
